On March 6, 2010, Taos Ski Valley will host Paint for Peaks, a snowboard and longboard (skateboard) art exhibit and auction.
All event proceeds and donations will benefit breast cancer research, education and health services through Susan G. Komen for the Cure - Central New Mexico affiliate.
With snowboards donated by Never Summer Industries, and longboards donated by Dykema Manufacturing and Draven Shoes, the exhibit will feature original works by such artists as Jim Vogel, Douglas Miles, Randall LaGro, Thom Wheeler, Art Brewer, Ira Lujan, Anne-Sophie Lenoir, Christina Sporrong, Kristin Bortles, Claire Libin, Wynn Miller, Maye Torres, Gary Fey, Read Lockhart, and Lindsy Solomon, with a special design by students of the Chrysalis Alternative High School in Taos, NM.
Worldwide, breast cancer is the second most common type of cancer after lung cancer, and the fifth most common cause of cancer death. Thus, as we work together to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all, and energize science to find the cures, March 6, 2010 has been designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Day at Taos Ski Valley. Skiing and snowboarding guests are further encouraged to donate $1 to Susan B. Komen for the Cure when they purchase their Taos Ski Valley lift ticket(s).
After skiing and riding one of the country's top mountains throughout the day, guests are invited to enjoy outdoor music festivities, including DJ Oliver, starting at 4:30PM at the Resort Center. The Paint for Peaks Exhibit and Live Auction, and Silent Auction consisting of local business' services, accommodations, and special offerings starts at 6:00PM in the Martini Tree Bar.
Current sponsors and supporters include, Never Summer Industries, Dykema Manufacturing, Draven Shoes, Taos Ski Valley, The Bavarian Lodge and Restaurant, Brown Rice Internet, Studio Karina, and Kind Productions.
Please join us at Taos Ski Valley in support of this valuable cause, Saturday, March 6, 2010.
